National History Day
Congratulations to Eli and Quinn for their second place website "A City Demolished: The 1906 Earthquake and Fire". They competed in the national competition in College Park, Maryland June of 2013! Way to go!!!
The 2019 theme for the N.H.D. contest is "Triumph and Tragedy in History". The regional competition will be held at M.S.S.U. in March. RISE seventh and eighth grades students will begin looking and thinking about a possible topic beginning October 22. From that date until the end of February, students will be spending 3 to 4 class periods each week in the Media Center working on their project.
RISE students compete in National History Day if they choose. All work will be completed by March 1, 2019, regardless if competition is selected. The many skills involved in the creation of the project are necessary for high school and college work and will be graded throughout the second and third grading quarter. Choices for showing the work are: historical paper, website (designed by an individual or a group), performance (as an individual or in a group), exhibit board (showing individual or group work), or documentary (either built by an individual or a group). Students will begin investigation of the topic "Triumph and Tragedy in History" October 22, 2018. Most work will be completed in class, however students may work at home or stay after school for additional help from Mrs. Stockam.
